Increase awareness of and access to CTE (Career Technical Education) pathways for Black students
Supporting site leadership: We are supporting site leaders in developing and implementing site-specific strategies to expand parent awareness and increase student access to and awareness of available pathways.
Focusing on five school sites: We are concentrating our efforts on five school sites to more closely examine patterns and measure changes in the data.
Including student survey questions: We are adding questions to the student survey to better understand student awareness of and access to available opportunities.
Identifying parent engagement data sources: We are identifying additional data sources to better understand and strengthen parent engagement.
A greater proportion of Black students and families indicate awareness of College and Career requirements for graduation
More Black students indicate an awareness of Career Technical Education pathways and resources available to them, especially for low-income students
We joined the African American Student Success Network (AASSN) after identifying disparities in the proportion of Black students who reported being aware of the CTE pathway options available to meet their college and career indicator requirements. During our first year in the AASSN, we are working to better understand where communication and awareness are breaking down so we can ensure students have clearer access to available pathways and opportunities.
